Step & Spine Physical Therapy offering free triathlon performance, injury prevention classes at Bend clinic

Seasoned triathletes and novice competitors alike will have the opportunity to learn about triathlon-specific performance training and injury prevention from three of the area’s top certified professionals during free January classes offered at Step & Spine Physical Therapy’s Bend clinic.

Titled “Triathlon-Specific Performance Training & Injury Prevention,” the hour-long classes will be held at 7:30 p.m. on three consecutive Monday evenings: Jan. 9, 16 and 23. Class size is limited and almost full, so RSVPs are required. Step & Spine’s Bend office is located at 2185 NW Shevlin Park Rd.

“The New Year is a popular time to start new fitness goals, which for some may include competing in your their triathlon or becoming more competitive in their class,” said physical therapist Seth Wilkie, PT, DPT, of Step & Spine Physical Therapy, one of the class instructors. “These classes are meant to complement your tri-training regimen as you work toward these goals, focusing on improving strength, endurance and injury prevention.”

Along with Taylor, other instructors will include physical therapist Jason D. Taylor, who’s an APTA Board Certified Sports Specialist, and Jaimie Dispenza, a certified Ironman, USA Triathlon and USA Cycling coach.

“We’re hosting these classes to help put goal-setting athletes – both beginners and seasoned competitors – get on the right track training-wise so their journey is both safe and successful,” said Taylor. “As instructors, each one of us loves to compete, but we also love to help others reach their athletic goals injury-free.”

The classes are being hosted by Step & Spine Physical Therapy in partnership with Laughing Dog Tri. To RSVP, call the Step & Spine Physical Therapy Bend clinic at 541-728-0713.
