Step & Spine Physical Therapy Supports PT Pub Night St. Charles Cancer Event
Oct 1The Step & Spine Physical Therapy team is proud to announce our sponsorship of an upcoming Central Oregon event raising funds for local programs that benefit those affected by cancer.
“Press On: Moving Lives Through Cancer” is a fundraising and outreach event organized and supported by area physical therapists who believe as we do: that exercise and movement play important roles in the journey through cancer, from treatment to quality-of-life benefits.
Free to attend, Press On will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10, 3 to 9 p.m., at Atlas Cider Company’s taproom in Bend. Visit www.pressonbend.com for event information and updates, including how you may contribute to the cause as we did.
“Cancer affects so many people in the world, including family members, friends and some of our colleagues, so we saw this as our chance to celebrate survivorship while supporting those in our lives who’ve been affected by this dreadful disease,” said Jodi Ford, co-founder of Step & Spine Physical Therapy.
Multiple studies through the years have shown that physical therapy can play a critical role in helping cancer patients maintain strength, decrease fatigue, minimize pain, and maximize function and mobility. A PT can also identify possible physical complications during and after treatment.
But it’s more than that, says Barrett Ford, PT, lead physical therapist here at Step & Spine Physical Therapy.
“Movement is a powerful thing that can provide strength and stability not just for our bodies, but also our minds,” he said. “Physical therapy can help a cancer patient restore a semblance of control over their bodies – control they may have felt was lost upon diagnosis.”
We ask that you join us in celebrating cancer survivorship and helping survivorship programs by attending and supporting this Press On event. Along with an educational element, the event will feature live music, food and fun on the grounds surrounding Atlas Cider Company. For updates and additional information, visit the official Press On site or the event’s Facebook page. Or contact us for more information on how you can support the cause.
